New Product Release – Holtek HT46R92/HT46R94 High Current LED Driver A/D type MCU

Forming two new additions to Holtek’s high current LED driver A/D type MCU range, the HT46R92 and HT46R94 have the capability of driving up to 256 LEDs. The devices also include a 12-bit high-speed A/D converter and 8-bit PWM functions and are supplied in both 44-pin QFP and 52-pin QFP package types. These combined features make the devices suitable for use in applications which require a display such as the home appliance, exercise equipment, consumer product and measuring instrument application area. The high-speed integrated structure of these devices supplies designers with microcontroller solutions with excellent performance/price ratios.

The HT46R92 and HT46R94 devices each utilise a Holtek 8-bit microcontroller core. The devices contain either 2K or 4K OTP type Program Memory, 88 or 192 bytes of Data Memory, a 6 or 8-level stack etc. Regarding the peripheral circuits, they contain either a 6 or 8-channel 12-bit high speed A/D converter, which can be used to interface to external sensor signals such as those used to measure temperature, humidity etc. The also contain either 2 or 3 PWM outputs as well as 8 input/output lines, which can be used for motor control and to interface to various types of external switches. Additionally the internal Programmable Frequency Divider function can be used to generate audio frequency signals etc. With such a wide range of integrated features, the device can be easily used to form a complete control system for a large range of applications.

As usual the devices are fully supported by Holtek’s integrated development system, the HT-IDE3000. This suite of software and hardware tools include features such as real time emulation, memory and register read/write features, hardware breakpoints with logical setups, trace analysis etc. All the features one would expect are provided to ensure that product designers have all the tools at hand to ensure their applications are developed and debugged as rapidly and efficiently as possible.
