New Holtek HT46RU232 A/D with UART Microcontroller
05/23/2008
Holtek is pleased to announce the release of its new HT46RU232 A/D type with UART microcontroller. The device includes 4K x 16 Program Memory capacity, 192 bytes of Data Memory and up to 40 I/O pins. Additionally, contained in the HT46RU232 is a 12-bit resolution 8-channel A/D converter, which can be used to detect external analog signals such as those from a range of sensors for measuring parameters such as battery voltage, current, temperature, humidity, pressure, illumination levels etc. The internal PWM function within the device can be used for temperature and speed control functions as well as for voltage and current control. The Programmable Frequency Divider function can be used to generate a wide range of frequencies, for example to generate audio frequencies to drive accompanying sound generating devices or can be used to generate infrared carrier wave signals.
The HT46RU232 in addition to its IIC slave mode interface, also includes an internal UART function. The UART is a full duplex asynchronous type whose Baud Rate can be setup via software and which has automatic detection flags etc. Using this UART function for data transfer to the external world can substantially reduce software overheads, allowing higher operating efficiencies from the microcontroller.
As is the case with all of Holtek’s microcontrollers, the device has the benefits of high noise immunity and with its internal Watchdog timer and LVR functions has excellent protection against malfunction under poor environmental conditions. The device is supplied in three package types, namely 28-Pin SKDIP/SOP and 48-Pin SSOP.
